International relations of the Ritzefeld-Gymnasium (lat. inter = between and natio = the people)

The Ritzefeld-Grammar School is situated in the centre of the so called “copper city” Stolberg – 57000 inhabitants – close to Aachen and the border triangle Germany-Belgium-The Netherlands. The school usually has three classes per grade level and comprises grades 5 to 13 finishing with the A-level exams (Abitur). There are about 700 students and 50 teachers at our school, which is a stately co-educational all-day school. It was founded in 1880 by the cleric Roland Ritzefeld after he had been speaking up for higher education for girls for years. Even today the utmost concern of the Ritzefeld- Grammar School is to promote and encourage the individual strengths of girls and boys independent from their family background or their religious denomination. Based on a thorough and wide variety of knowledge- and method transfer as well as an encouragement of creative powers the school has gained a reputation in mathematics and natural sciences as well as in the fields of culture and music within the last few years.
It is our aim to prepare the students for “tomorrow’s world”. To acquaint them with forward-looking technologies is self-speaking, but even more important is it to equip them with emotional and intellectual skills to deal with the modern technologies critically.
The subjects taught at our school cover the mandatory fields of the national German curriculum: mathematics, natural sciences, modern languages, social sciences, arts, music, physical education, philosophy and religious education.
In addition to the mandatory subjects our school offers a vast variety of extra-curricular activities in the afternoons.
There are also significant international project co-operations and student exchanges with e.g. external companies, historical sites as well as with other European schools.

Le Ritzefeld-Gymnasium est un lycée à trois filières situé au centre de la “ville du cuivre Stolberg”, qui compte environ 57 000 habitants, près du triangle frontalier Allemagne-Belgique-Pays-Bas, près d’Aix-la-Chapelle. Dans notre école, il y a 9 classes de la 5ème à la 13ème année, qui se terminent par le diplôme général d’entrée à l’université (Abitur). Au total, environ 700 élèves fréquentent notre école et reçoivent l’enseignement d’une cinquantaine de collègues. Le Ritzefeld-Gymnasium est une école publique mixte ouverte toute la journée, qui a été fondée en 1880 par le pasteur Roland Ritzefeld, après qu’il ait travaillé pendant de nombreuses années à la formation continue des filles. Aujourd’hui encore, notre principale préoccupation est de promouvoir les forces individuelles des filles et des garçons, quelles que soient leur origine ou leur confession. Au cours des dernières années, les domaines mathématiques-scientifiques et culturels-musicaux se sont développés en tant que points focaux sur la base d’un transfert approfondi et étendu de connaissances et de méthodes ainsi que de la promotion des forces créatives.
Notre objectif est de préparer nos élèves au “monde de demain”. Il va sans dire qu’ils apprennent à manipuler les technologies actuelles et futures. Mais il est encore plus important d’acquérir des compétences qui permettent aux étudiants de faire face aux technologies de manière positive et critique, tant sur le plan émotionnel qu’intellectuel.
Les matières enseignées dans notre école couvrent les domaines linguistique, artistique, mathématique, scientifique et social qui sont obligatoires en Allemagne, ainsi que l’éducation sportive et religieuse.
Notre école dispose d’un large éventail de groupes d’étude l’après-midi.
En outre, le lycée Ritzefeld entretient des projets de coopération précieux avec des partenaires extrascolaires ainsi qu’avec d’autres écoles, également au-delà des frontières européennes.

El Ritzefeld-Gymnasium es un centro escolar del segundo ciclo de enseñanza pública. Está situado en el centro del municipio de Stolberg, la “ciudad del cobre “, con aproximadamente 25000 habitantes, en el oeste de Alemania cerca de Aquisgrán y del triángulo fronterizo Alemania-Bélgica-Países Bajos. Tenemos alrededor de setecientos alumnos de entre diez y diecinueve años, y un profesorado de 50 colegas. En nuestro instituto hay nueve niveles, compuestos cada uno por tres clases anuales, empezando con el 5º grado hasta el 13º grado, que termina con los exámenes del bachillerato (Abitur) con lo que nuestros alumnos obtienen la calificación para el acceso a una carrera universitaria. El Ritzefeld-Gymnasium es una escuela coeducativa de enseñanza pública, fundada en 1880 por el sacerdote Roland Ritzefeld quien se había esforzado durante décadas por establecer un centro escolar de enseñanza superior para niñas y mujeres jóvenes. Hasta hoy en día, nuestra preocupación más importante es promover las capacidades individuales de las niñas y de los niños, independientemente de su origen o confesión. En los últimos años, se les ha concedido una importancia primordial a los campos matemático-científico y cultural-musical sobre la base de una profunda y amplia impartición de conocimientos y métodos, así como la promoción de las fuerzas creativas.
Nuestro objetivo es preparar a nuestros estudiantes para el “mundo del mañana” aprendiendo a manejar las actuales y futuras tecnologías. Pero es aún más importante adquirir habilidades que permitan a los estudiantes, emocional e intelectualmente, lidiar con la tecnología de una manera positiva y crítica.
Las asignaturas de nuestra escuela cubren las áreas obligatorias en Alemania, las de lingüística-artística, matemáticas -ciencias naturales, ciencias sociales, así como educación física y religiosa.
Nuestra escuela tiene una amplia oferta de talleres por la tarde.
Además, el Ritzefeld-Gymnasium mantiene varios proyectos de cooperación con socios extracurriculares, así como intercambios con otras escuelas, dentro y más allá de las fronteras europeas.

Het Ritzefeld-Gymnasium is een gymnasium in het centrum van de “koperen stad Stolberg” met ca. 57000 inwoners in de buurt van de grensdriehoek Duitsland-België-Nederland bij Aken. In onze school zijn er groepen van klas 5 tot en met klas 13 die eindigen met de algemene universitaire toelatingsexamen (Abitur). Klas 1 in Nederland is vergelijkbar met klas 7 in Duitsland. In totaal gaan er ongeveer 700 studenten naar onze school en krijgen ze les van ongeveer 50 collega’s. Het Ritzefeld-Gymnasium is een openbare school die in 1880 werd opgericht door de geestelijke Roland Ritzefeld, nadat hij vele jaren had gewerkt voor de verdere opleiding van meisjes. Zelfs vandaag de dag is onze belangrijkste zorg het bevorderen van de individuele sterke punten van meisjes en jongens, ongeacht hun afkomst of benaming.
In de afgelopen jaren hebben de wiskundig-wetenschappelijke en cultureel-muzikale gebieden zich ontwikkeld als aandachtspunten op basis van een grondige en brede overdracht van kennis en methoden en de bevordering van creatieve krachten.
Ons doel is om onze studenten voor te bereiden op de “wereld van morgen”. Het spreekt voor zich dat ze leren met de huidige, toekomstgerichte technologieën om te gaan. Nog belangrijker is het echter om vaardigheden te verwerven die de studenten in staat stellen om op een positieve en kritische manier met technologieën om te gaan, zowel emotioneel als intellectueel.
De vakken op onze school omvatten de taalkundige, artistieke, wiskundige, wetenschappelijke en sociale wetenschappen die in Duitsland verplicht zijn, evenals het sport- en godsdienstonderwijs.
Onze school heeft een breed scala aan middagstudiegroepen.
Bovendien onderhoudt het Ritzefeld-Gymnasium waardevolle samenwerkingsprojecten met buitenschoolse partners en met andere scholen, ook buiten de Europese grenzen.
